Projects Development

If you are interested in Hetalia Videogames, there are some Gakuen Hetalia, RomaHeta and HetaOni fanclubs around here!

If you are interested in RPG videogames creation, please take a look at these groups in which youīll learn A LOT about it!

Submitting guidelines are inside the folders themselves; also, in the "Featured" gallery you'll se more detailed explanations to everything you need to know.

This group was created to gather resources to make Hetalia games, mainly. We also allow game creators to share their projects to a certain extend, so you'll find demos, fully playable games, some screenshots, and such.

However, this is not a "fanclub" for those Hetalia games, so you can't post everything that is related to them, such as fanart or fanfiction. We don't even have a fanfics folder, or a "reviews of games" folder. The few fanarts and cosplay we have around are to help promote the games and the group a bit, nothing more. If you want to review games and provide criticism and so on, talk to the authors themselves. If you want to post all of your fanart or fanfiction related to Hetalia Oni -for instance- you should find a HetaOni fanclub.

Also, please notice that the admins of this group aren't the creators of the games. We admins simply manage the group. If you want to help in a game, you need to talk to the people posting them or take a look at the "Projects Development" folder.

WE WON'T ACCEPT GAME PROJECTS THAT AREN'T SOURCING/CREDITING RESOURCES. There is also the matter of using ILLEGAL RESOURCES (like sprites you are not allowed to use, MMD models, pictures that you don't own, using copyrighted music). We understand you'll be using then, in special in the case of music resources, but YOU HAVE TO CREDIT/SOURCE IT in all cases.

Please check them:

- New Rules and Guidelines you need to follow to submit to the group ->…

- Guide to using Resources, Crediting and Sourcing ->…

- Resources Masterpost -> hetalia-videogames.deviantart.…

With this, most of your basic questions regarding the group, resources, etc. should be solved. The masterpost will get updated from time to time but it already have a good compilation of stuff from scripts to graphics and music. Please do check the crediting and sourcing guide before using any of them, and also, please do check our group new rules and guidelines if you are going to submit something... I already demoted all the admins that didn't follow the rules, so your submissions won't be getting in so easily anymore if you don't go with the folder instructions pretty closely.

Feel free to ask questions, but please do check carefully the rules, resources masterpost or anything else you are confused about before asking.

I hope the masterpost helps you guys! See you around!

Do you know where I could find a sprite of 2p Canada and 2p France laying down? Like they're hurt?

Hm, I don't know of one currently available, sorry.
I think you'll have to request someone create one or make one yourself.

Hi, I just want to ask for an opinion on character facesets! You know, the faces of characters on a dialogue box?

Do you prefer a game with Facesets? (The standard 90x90 pixel boxes) or Busts? (Pictures that take up like 1/3 of the screen) or none at all?

Visual wise(well from my point of view), busts are more preferred since they show more than the standard faceset? Since you can show body language along with expression, while facesets mainly focus on the face (and barely enough space for other things like a hand, otherwise trying to fit more things will make the faceset small and the extra stuff hard to see). You can draw the busts in any size (well as long as they don't go over the game screen size) while facesets obviously has their own fixed size. Busts make the dialogues more interesting probably? Depending on some people, but to me they're more expressionable (is that even a word) and it makes you get into the story more.

Art wise, busts take longer to draw, depending how big you want them to be, and sometimes there are events where special busts are used (busts made specifically for that event) but you'll have to juggle between story and planning the bust (unless you finished the story planning first). Facesets are faster to finish, depending how much detail you put into them(and skills), or how many expressions you wanna add.

programming/coding wise, busts take a while to code properly (using normal rpgmaker functions rather than scripts) unless you're using scripts that make it much easier to mess around with. Facesets are like instant food. Just add water. With the help of a script or just vanilla coding, you can place busts pretty much anywhere, like the right side of the screen or the middle. As for facesets, unless you got some pretty handy script up your sleeve, it'll always be fixed on the left side of the message boxes (from what i read from the rpgmaker forums, making a script to move the faceset position right is very tricky and difficult, but a script for it may have already existed idk. I think you CAN make adjustments to the faceset's fixed settings but I think that can be somewhat risky if you don't know much about scripting). Actions using facesets are best accompanied with programming the sprites to move around to do stuff, or have visual novel action descriptions (e.g [facesethere] He picked up a shovel).
Actions using busts can limit having to move sprites around(like they're frozen in the back while the busts are interacting), as there's more focus on the busts doing actions instead (though this takes a lot more work for specific actions. examples are persona 3 and mana khemia 2 where the sprites in the back are frozen while the busts move around).

Though my opinion alone won't completely answer your question, hopefully there are others to give their two cents after me. I hope this helps.
